Serena and Paul celebrated their Honolulu wedding at the beautiful Paiko Kai Estate (aka Hale Kai Kohola) in Hawaii Kai on Oahu. I really enjoyed working with this couple — not just on their wedding day, but also during their engagement session (photos to come soon).
Before the ceremony, Serena had her gift presented to Paul. Astonished by the Tag Heuer box, Paul didn’t even realize he was wearing a Rolex until after he was told. What a cool trick!
Due to rain during the reception, all of the tables were removed and the guests were directed to shelter. But that was okay, because otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get that one shot of them on the slick deck, under the supermoon that happened to be the reason they picked that date to get married.
When I first met Serena, I immediately thought of Keira Knightley — from her voice, to her accent, and her classy demeanor. And while she may disagree (I don’t know since I never told her), I couldn’t help but be reminded again when she wore Coco Chanel Mademoiselle on her wedding day (Keira Knightley plays the muse in the commercials).
For her wedding gown, Serena wore Monique Lhuillier; for her wedding shoes, Valentino.
