Make-A-Wish Hawaii created another wonderful event. Aiden had a wish to go to Disney World, and before she departed Hawaii she was given a send off party at Moanalua Gardens, complete with croquet, fun food, games, hats, and guests with some creative outfits. My first time meeting Aiden was at last year’s 30th Anniversary Gala at The Kahala Hotel & Resort, where Make-A-Wish Hawaii surprised Aiden by flying in her grandparents from the mainland.
It’s always a pleasure to work with Make-A-Wish Hawaii. They really do go above and beyond to make wishes come true.
One of my favorite moments during this event was watching Aiden’s reaction to the cake that arrived. And at the end of the day, Aiden played a little hide-and-seek with me as Loretta and I were leaving.
But the most emotional part of the day was when we said goodbye. I asked Aiden for a high five, and just when I thought I had it good, Loretta said to Aiden, “I heard you give the *best* hugs!” And then Loretta received a hug that she will never forget.
Aiden is such a joy to be around. Her smile is absolutely contagious, and you can’t help but be humbled by her presence.
