I like to think of myself as an organized person, but every once in a while, I go through a bit of a frenzy searching for something; one of my friends calls me a “mad man” when I’m doing my occasional ransack routine.
In the midst of searching for a file today, I stumbled across the image below. It was taken not long after I jumped into being a full-time photographer. The location was The Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, where Kristen and Brian had their rehearsal dinner.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m not just looking for key moments; I’m also looking for unexpected moments. And this was one of those moments.
Granted, I did get a heads-up as I heard the bagpipes in the distance. But to get the shot also meant that I would momentarily distance myself from my working area to get a decent composition. I still remember that day — the amazing venue, the cool breeze, amazing hors d’oeuvres, warming up under the heat lamps as often as I could, and being ecstatic about using my new 70-200mm lens.
Photographers remember a lot of details from a day of shooting, no matter how long ago that day was.
Do you remember where you were 6 years ago? Feel free to share your story in a comment below. 🙂
Have a great weekend!
P.S. I still haven’t found what I was looking for.
